Hey Tribe. So I met Shira Linker in the Gym like 18 years ago. In the meantime I have had the privilege to have taken yoga classes with her, personal trained her, seen her singing live, witnessed her open a successful beautiful retail store Gent Sac in the GALLERIES Sydney CBD, and been lucky enough to get to know her on a deep personal level.
Shira is talented in so many ways! I love the friendship she brings, I love training her as she is so feminine yet so fierce, i love chatting to her as she is so wise and graceful.
I am excited to introduce you to this this gorgeous Woman & I can’t wait to share with you a little about the gorgeous Shira Linker…
Hey Shira, so every time I see you, you have such a beautiful, grounded & vibrant state, 😊 you're such a beautiful, present, feminine woman! What do you think your secret are?
This is a beautiful compliment. Thank you! Ohh no real secrets - the basics are the gold. Daily mindfulness/meditation, hydrating, addressing my feelings through journaling. I feel grounded when i've looked after me and I can be present with people when I'm with them.
What is SHIRA focusing on atm?
I am currently devoting a lot of time to health - mental, physical, spiritual - all of it. Having a retail business for the last 8 years and seeing it through Covid has been really tough. I am diving deeper into living in true alignment and with that also comes the pursuit of my creative passions.
What does being fierce mean to you?
Fierce to me is a combination of presence and willingness. Cultivating the ability to be present rather than stuck in the past or projecting the future and being with what is - is incredibly fierce and powerful, combined with an open and willing heart. Willing to face your fears, willing to have hard conversations, willing to look at the area's you need to grow, willing to take rest, willing to open your mind, willing to take responsibility, willing to trust yourself when life gets tough and confusing. The list goes on. Willingness is fierce.
I know you love yoga, and we have done some yoga together. Yoga how so many different reasons for doing it… oneness, physically strength & training, calming the mind & body. What is your main reason you do Yoga?
Initially many years ago, I was drawn to yoga as a practice for stretching and calming the mind. I discovered through some incredible teachers that it is so much more than that. Early on I learned - 'what comes up on the mat - comes up in life' - Yoga is a modality to connect mind, body, spirit. To connect deeply within yourself and create spaciousness and flexibility in your mind, body and spirit. It is both strengthening and calming. On the mat you learn who you are, your aversions, the fluctuations of your mind, the habits and patterns, if you look closely it is the best place for true transformation and holistically yoga is a way of life.
What would you love to say to your younger self?
I would encourage her. Her dreams, her heart. I would tell her how beautiful and loveable she is, that there is only one Shira and that all I wish for her is to love herself and see the beautiful, talented, magnetic being she is. I would tell her the most important relationship she has is the one with herself and this means learning to understand her needs, her feelings, expressing herself freely and releasing any limiting beliefs. BTW - I tell my current self this now - especially on tough days when the inner critic is still loud.
I recently was lucky enough to hear you sing some of your new releases. Tell us your favourite song and what it means to you?
OOh picking a favourite of mine is hard, but I do have a soft spot for my song Never Had you. Partly because I love the soulful melody - but also the message - I can't lose you if I never had you. The truth is it's about a situationship - where I never really had my needs met - so what was I losing? But spiritually speaking - we never own anything or anyone, so during heartbreak it's relieving to remember, nothing is lost - it helps to let go.
The big question, tights or leggings?
(Meaning what do you call your yoga/training pants by? 😉 )
Lol - I had to think about this for a sec - I switch between the two, leggings and tights! 😉
What would you say are the best tights, as in what leggings or short length do you love wearing the most…
(Full length tights, cropped tights, capri tights, shorts (if shorts what length)?
Full length tights is my go-to!
